Engagement Requirements: The nut must be threaded onto the screw axis perpendicularly; it must not be tilted. Failure to observe this may compromise the integrity of the connection and increase the risk of seizing.

 

Force Application Requirements: During the tightening process, force must be applied evenly. The applied force must not exceed the safe torque limit; refer to a safe torque chart for guidance to prevent damage to the nut or bolt caused by excessive force.

 

Tool Selection: Whenever possible, use a torque wrench or a socket wrench. Avoid using adjustable wrenches or power tools (such as electric impact wrenches), as these tools may fail to ensure uniform and stable force application during operation, thereby increasing the likelihood of issues such as seizing.

 

High-Temperature Usage Requirements: When using stainless steel nuts in high-temperature environments, allow them to cool down first. Furthermore, avoid rapid rotation during installation to prevent a sudden rise in temperature, which could lead to seizing. This is because high temperatures alter the physical properties of stainless steel, making it more susceptible to seizing.

 

Issues Arising from Material Properties: Due to fundamental differences between stainless steel and carbon steel-specifically stainless steel's superior ductility-improper handling can easily result in the inability to unthread a stainless steel screw-and-nut assembly once engaged. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as "seizing" or "galling."
